The full linear route is possible with two cars parked at either end or taxi return. Shorter options are possible starting from either Southwick or Brighton Marina depending on the prevailing wind.

Launching Southwick Beach short walk from car park; or 600m walk from Southwich Rail station on the walkway across the Port lock gates (England Coast Path) accessed off the coast road just west of Station Road Brighton Marina beach short walk west of marina.

Lessons and tours

Getting there Car Southwick From Brighton on A259 west towards Shoreham. Turn L on to Wharf Road and Hove Lagoon; L on to Basin Road S and car park. Rail Southwick Station from London Victoria, change Hove www.southwesternrailway.com ; Brighton Marina from Brighton city centre head to seafront then L onto A259.

This is a very fine weather dependant trip in low wind/swell so check local conditions and web cam at Brighton https://www.surfline.com/surf-report/brighton/61ba7029a052dac52a845758.

Ideally time trip to co-inside with last few hours of flood tide to assist you along although SW wind will have most impact, Perfect sunrise/sunset paddle when the water is like glass. Watch out for underwater groynes/spikes along the route especially if heading anywhere near West Pier and look out for the remains of the sunken barge visible on a low spring tide as you pass Palace Pier.
