A 25 km, easy coastal circular cycle route around Hayling Island using trails, roads and lanes. The route uses the Hayling Billy Trail to travel down the tranquil west side of the island alongside the important nature reserve of Langstone harbour. It then explores the western tip with options to cross on the ferry to portsea or continue around Hayling’s south shore along beach tracks (mountain bikes/hybrids), the sea front and promenade. The route goes through the houses a bit then turns north on the busy main road before branching off along the idyllic Yew Tree Lane through farmland to rejoin the coast at Langstone Bridge. There are great views and seascapes throughout as well as several great places to stop off for food and drink.
The best bits are starting with a BBQ breakfast at Salt Shack cafe, birds galore in Langstone Harbour, watching the kite-surfers on the south shore and cycling the historic Hayling Billy Trail.
