An explorer's guide to the islands of Britain

Tiree offers options for perfect coastal cycle routes. It is criss-crossed by quiet, single-track island roads and pretty much the whole island is flat. You may encounter the odd cow or two, but you’ll rarely come across a car. Cycling is the best way to discover the island and with it being only about¬†10 miles long and 6 miles across you can get to see most of the island in a day or two – but why rush?

There’s also the option of taking in a whole coastal circuit of Tiree, following lanes, pushing along paths, cycling across beaches and experiencing everything wild that the island has to offer.
