About Ceredigion
Ceredigion in west Wales stretches along Cardigan Bay from Aberdovey in the north to Cardigan in the south and includes the seaside towns and villages of Aberystwyth, Aberaeron, New Quay and Aberporth. Ceredigion is an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise, with plenty of hiking trails in Ceredigion making it a haven for walkers with its panoramic ocean views and rugged cliffside walks, including the Ceredigion Coastal Path. For water-lovers, paddleboarding in Ceredigion is a must, with plenty of beautiful Ceredigion beaches to explore that also make great spots for wild swimming in Ceredigion.

Best places to paddleboard Ceredigion
Taking in the vast sweep of Cardigan Bay there are numerous coastal paddle boarding adventures in Ceredigion. Aberystwyth’s waterfront can be explored, or there’s a coastal journey to Clarach Bay or shorter options upstream of the town’s two river estuaries. The charming fishing village of New Quay offers plenty of options to paddle board along its gentle beaches, with the added extra of spotting one of the largest pods of dolphins in Europe. There are smuggler’s beaches to discover, and spectacular cliffs, waterfalls and
sea caves. Ceredigion has a couple of estuaries to explore too. Why not try the tide-assisted trip along the Afon Teifi river gorge past romantic castle ruins, the town of Cardigan to the sea at Poppit Sands.

Welsh Islands in Ceredigion
There are two Welsh islands off the Ceredigion coast. The first is Cardigan Island, a wildlife reserve a short distance from the Welsh coastline. The other is Ynys Lochtyn, a dramatic tidal island reached by aprecipitous path and a great vantage point for spotting the Cardigan Bay dolphins.
